This 50th episode of How I Got Hired is a very special one.
Have you ever felt that you have faced too much adversity? Here’s a story that will open your mind.
On March 25th 2002, Sana Khurshid was travelling with her sister on a highway in Islamabad, when they suddenly met with a deadly road accident. Her sister died on the spot while Sana's body was 95% paralysed.
In the hospital, Sana was unable to talk or move any of her body parts. Her only way of communication was blinking her eyes. To get the attention of sleeping nurses, she would often bite on her ventilator tube to stop the oxygen supply and set off the alarm. After years of medical treatment, she was able to talk but physically became wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life.
The iron-girl however, didn't lose heart. Sana went on to complete her studies in London, and successfully completed her LLB and then LLM. She is now a practicing lawyer in Lahore and actively works for the differently abled and is committed to make public places accessible for them everywhere.
Talk about turning adversity into advocacy. Literally.
