66. Rupert French: How to Keep Winning at any Age
Show Notes

“I dropped out of high school in the 10th grade. I was a total failure at school. Subsequently, I joined the army and stayed there for 7 years. Then, I transitioned to becoming a journalist and was all over the place during my journalism career, and ended up at the Sydney Morning Herald. Great job, terrible hours.

Then somehow, I got a chance to go to University in my 30's. That's what I did, came away with a honours degree and a wife.”

Today I am speaking with Rupert French who is a Job Search Specialist and author of the book ‘How to get a good job after 50’. But Rupert is not like other coaches. Firstly, Rupert has been helping disadvantaged job seekers for over 40 years! Secondly, he’s my first guest from the beautiful island state of Tasmania in Australia, and third, Rupert is my first octogenarian guest! Rupert is 83 and continues to work tirelessly to help those who need it the most.

In this powerful and fun conversation, Rupert and I talk about:

- How he moved at an early age from England to Australia

- The unforgettable reason that made him start work as a job search coach

- His words of advice for anyone who is doing their best but sees a lot stacked against them (circumstances, discrimination etc)

-  His three timeless job search strategies that he has seen work over and over again, whether in 1982 or 2022.

We had a lot of fun and laughs too, hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did!
